"It has just turned 42ºC here. My partner tells me the magpies are camped in the stables, occasionally popping out to flap in the breeze or bathe in the water trough. Outside, everything is buzzing and shimmering. There's no real breeze. The goats have just popped out for a graze but they won't be long.

Me? I have not been outside. It's a cool 25º in the office next to my computers - why should I go outside, I ask?"
